Grants and Awards
As a service organization whose mission is to improve the lives of women and girls locally and globally, Soroptimist International of Ashland uses income from fund raising activities like the Pillow Booth at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and donations from our members and friends to fund grants and awards to individuals and programs in our community.
Education
Live Your Dream Award (formerly Women's Opportunity Award), the signature project of Soroptimist International of the Americas, helps women support their families while, as primary wage earners, they complete training or degree programs.
Vicki Smith Memorial Scholarships honor graduating Ashland High School seniors who serve as role models for other women. In 2022, thanks to generous donors, SI-Ashland was able to award three of these awards.
Vocational/Technical Awards support Phoenix and Ashland High School graduates who have demonstrated academic achievement and social responsibility and are entering a vocational or technical program.
SOU Athletic Awards recognize Southern Oregon University student athletes for athletic accomplishment and academic achievement.
Economics and Social Development
Women Helping Women Award (formerly Ruby Award) honors women in the Rogue Valley who are not Soroptimists, and who through their professional or volunteer efforts are making extraordinary differences to improve the lives of women and girls..
SOU Grant-in-Aid supports Southern Oregon University students who excel scholastically, contribute to the community, and desire to enter a profession of service.
Community Grants
In addition to scholarships and grants to individuals, Soroptimist International of Ashland also makes grants to organizations and programs that benefit our community.
OSF FAIR Program
Half of the proceeds from the Soroptimist Pillow Booth at the Oregon Shakespeare festival go to OSF to support the FAIR program (Fellowships, Apprenticeships, Internships, and Residencies).
